Insurance Information Q&A

For your convenience, most billing and/or insurance questions can be answered before you’re even scheduled for your first session.  To expedite this process, please have your insurance card ready when you call.  Verification of insurance benefits will usually happen the same day (no later than two days), and the Office Manager can provide you with your coverage details, estimated patient portion/cost, and schedule your initial assessment/first time visit.   ***Please note that verification of benefits, including any estimation of charges or patient portion amounts, is NOT a guarantee of coverage, and that all claims are reviewed by your insurance company on an individual basis.  You, as the client, are ultimately responsible for covering any and all accrued fees.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes!  This clinic does file insurance with multiple providers.  However, due to the intricacies of managed health care, not all insurance is accepted.  For questions regarding insurance eligibility, please contact the Office Manager at (919) 434-6398.  We will call and verify your mental health benefits and any out-of-pocket cost that you may have.  If you do not have insurance we offer a limited number of sliding fee appointments for those with financial hardship.

How does my insurance work?  Do I have to do anything?

There are a wide variety of insurance providers, and an equally wide variety of requirements from each.  The Office Manager will file claims on your behalf (when eligible and applicable) in a timely manner through whichever medium is requested by your insurance provider.  Frequently, your patient responsible portion for charges can’t be accurately quoted until we receive an explanation of benefits (EOB) from your insurance provider; this happen as soon as a few days from the date of filing, or as long as several weeks.

Some insurance carriers require documentation above and beyond your basic member information to accept claims.  This may include clinical documentation, diagnoses, or other information relevant to services provided at this clinic.  Please note that we will make every effort to provide only that information which is mandatory for your insurance to accept the claim.

For any additional questions regarding insurance coverage, payment, or benefits, please contact the Office Manager.

Do you accept Medicare?
No.  Only Psychologist, Psychiatrist, and Licensed Clinical Social Workers are able to accept Medicare.  Even if you have other insurance, Medicare is always primary, therefore the clinician must be approved by Medicare.

What portion of my fees will my insurance pay?

There is a wide range of factors that affect how much your insurance may or may not pay for mental health services, including whether the provider is in or out of your insurance’s network, if your deductible is met, etc.  We strongly advise that you contact the Office Manager with any questions regarding insurance coverage, even if you’ve called your insurance provider yourself for benefits information.  We want to make sure you’re getting the most accurate information possible, and have access to alternate systems and contacts that we have as mental health providers which a patient may not have.

Do you take credit cards?

Yes!  We accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover.  You can also pay online on the "Payment" page.
